Father Charged in Kentucky Fire That Killed Sons
Dustin Fields, 43, has been arrested and charged with first-degree arson after allegedly setting a fire on April 30 in Franklin County, Kentucky, that killed his two sons, 13-year-old Bently Fields and 15-year-old Rylan Fields, as well as the family dog. Authorities found the boys deceased at the scene, while Fields was not initially present but arrived shortly after, reportedly providing conflicting information to investigators. Accelerants were detected on Fields' shoes and near the boys' bodies, as supported by K9 units and court records. Fields pleaded not guilty during his court appearance and requested temporary release to attend his sons' funerals, a request the judge said would require a formal motion. He is being held on a $2 million bond as the investigation continues. Local schools and the community have expressed condolences and organized fundraisers to support funeral expenses and the boys' stepmother.
