LIV Doubles Promotion Spots, Moves Qualifier to Florida
LIV Golf announced it is expanding promotion pathways for the 2026 season by doubling the number of cards awarded: two spots will come from a Promotions event and two from the International Series rankings. The Promotions event was moved from the Middle East to Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida (Jan. 8–11, 2025); it will be a four-round (72-hole) tournament with a $1.5 million purse, a $200,000 winner's share and a top-20 advancement structure for early rounds. The International Series will award exempt LIV cards to the top two eligible players in its season‑long standings, with two events remaining including the Singapore Open and the PIF Saudi International. LIV CEO Scott O’Neil said the changes broaden access worldwide and are part of efforts to strengthen the league’s case for Official World Golf Ranking consideration. LIV has not yet explained how the four promoted players will be placed into the 2026 field, and the move to the U.S. is expected to attract more American entrants who had been deterred by prior Middle East locations and PGA Tour scheduling conflicts.
