Jordan’s Islamic Action Front (IAF), the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, won 31 out of 138 seats in the recent parliamentary elections, tripling its representation from the previous 2020 elections. This victory, though not a majority, marks the largest representation for the IAF since 1989. The IAF capitalized on widespread frustration over the Gaza war, economic challenges, and calls for political reform. Party leaders, such as Wael al-Saqqa, expressed their commitment to supporting Palestinian causes and addressing Jordan's internal issues. The election reforms, including changes in voting mechanisms and candidate age requirements, contributed to increased participation and diversified representation. Despite the significant win, the IAF and other parties will still operate within a system where ultimate power rests with the Jordanian king.
