Lauren Laverne Steps Down from Breakfast Show

Lauren Laverne is stepping down as the host of the BBC Radio 6 Music Breakfast Show after six years, with Nick Grimshaw set to replace her in February. Laverne took a break from her role in August 2024 to undergo treatment for cancer, which she announced was discovered unexpectedly but caught early. During her recovery, she reflected on the power of music and the support she received, expressing gratitude to her listeners and family. Laverne will remain on the station, transitioning to a mid-morning show, while continuing to host BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs. Mary Anne Hobbs, who currently hosts the mid-morning show, will take a sabbatical and return later in the year with a new program.
