New Jersey Senator Recovering From Snake Bite

New Jersey State Senator Parker Space was hospitalized after being bitten by an eastern massasauga rattlesnake while feeding them at his family-owned Space Farms Zoo and Museum. The incident occurred on Monday, leading to treatment at Newton Medical Center where he received 14 vials of antivenom over two days. Following the initial treatment, Space was transferred to a specialized facility in New York City for further care and was discharged by Wednesday, with expectations of a full recovery. Space, who has decades of experience handling snakes, acknowledged that he must have let his guard down during the feeding. He returned to work at the zoo shortly after his discharge, indicating that he would continue caring for the animals, including the one that bit him. The massasauga is known to be a shy species that rarely bites humans, which added to the unexpected nature of the incident.
