Lucinda Williams Opens Honky-Tonk Bar in NYC East Village
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams is opening a new honky-tonk bar called Lucinda's in New York City's East Village, located at 169 Avenue A in the former Brownie's space. The venue, co-founded with Laura McCarthy and Kelley Swindall, aims to bring a Nashville-style Southern country bar atmosphere to the city, featuring weekly bluegrass nights, songwriter open mics, live country music on Fridays and Saturdays, and live band country karaoke on Saturdays. Lucinda's also honors the late Jeremy Tepper, former program director of SiriusXM's Outlaw Country, and offers a southern-inspired drink menu curated by Williams herself. The bar will host an all-inclusive queer country party called the East Village Cxntry Club on the last Thursday of each month. Prior to the public opening on July 31, Williams and her band performed at a private opening event on July 29, which was livestreamed on SiriusXM Outlaw Country. Alongside her new venture, Williams recently released albums including 2023's "Stories From a Rock N Roll Heart" and 2024's "Lucinda Williams Sings the Beatles from Abbey Road," as well as a memoir in 2023.
