Saudi PIF Launches Company to Develop Expo 2030 Riyadh Site
Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) has established the Expo 2030 Riyadh Company (ERC), a wholly owned entity responsible for developing, operating, and sustaining the Kingdom's first-ever World Expo, set to run from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031. The Expo site covers 6 million square meters north of Riyadh, near the future King Salman International Airport, and is expected to attract over 40 million visitors, generate around 171,000 jobs, and contribute significantly to Saudi Arabia’s GDP both during construction and operational phases. Post-event, the site will be transformed into a global village featuring retail, dining, sustainable tourism, and a world-class residential community, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals of economic diversification and urban innovation. ERC will collaborate with local and international private sector partners to deliver construction, cultural programming, and operational readiness, aiming to leave a lasting urban and economic legacy. The initiative is part of PIF’s broader strategy to drive economic transformation through large-scale projects, positioning Riyadh as a global business, cultural, and innovation hub. This Expo is a major milestone in Saudi Arabia’s global engagement and economic diversification efforts amid challenges such as fluctuating oil prices.
