Mississippi Man Arrested After Armed Carjacking, Kidnapping During Test Drive

Reginald Donovan Johnson, a 33-year-old Gulfport man, is facing multiple felony charges including armed robbery, armed carjacking, and kidnapping after allegedly stealing a car during a test drive and kidnapping a dealership employee. Johnson reportedly posed as a customer interested in test-driving a vehicle at Champion Dodge dealership, brandished a firearm during the ride, forced the employee to drive to a different location, stole the victim's phone at gunpoint, and then forced the employee out of the car before fleeing with the vehicle. Police tracked the stolen car using a tracker and found it parked near Johnson's home, leading to his arrest without incident. Johnson was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center with bond set at $1.5 million. Authorities are investigating whether Johnson may be connected to similar crimes in other Mississippi Coast cities and are urging anyone with information to contact the Gulfport Police Department or Mississippi Crime Stoppers.
