The Indian Railways is set to enhance its Vande Bharat Express services with multiple new routes and schedules. A trial run of the Tatanagar-Berhampur Vande Bharat Express was successfully completed, and it is expected to be inaugurated on September 15, contributing to improved regional connectivity. Meanwhile, the contract for Vande Bharat sleeper trains has been amended, reducing the total number from 200 to 133 but increasing the number of coaches from 16 to 24 per train, aiming to accommodate more passengers on long-haul routes. Additionally, the introduction of a 20-coach configuration for Vande Bharat trains is underway, with one set already allocated for the Delhi-Varanasi route. The Marathwada Coach Factory is currently working on manufacturing 1,920 sleeper coaches, with testing expected to commence in three months. These developments reflect the Indian Railways' commitment to modernizing its services and enhancing passenger capacity.
