NFL Appeals $1.86 Million Attorney Fee Award

Several major law firms, including Kirkland & Ellis LLP, have reached agreements with the Trump administration to prevent executive orders that could revoke their federal security clearances and restrict their ability to represent government clients. As part of these deals, nine firms agreed to provide $940 million in pro bono legal services for causes favored by the president, although the impact of these commitments on firms' overall pro bono work remains uncertain. Nonprofit leaders and some attorneys report that these executive orders have led to hesitation within BigLaw to take on certain pro bono cases that might be viewed unfavorably by the administration.
