Miguel Castillo, a 32-year-old man from Longview, Texas, died in a crash involving an 18-wheeler on I-49 near Woodworth, Louisiana, on Thursday evening. According to Louisiana State Police, Castillo was driving a 2008 Nissan when he failed to slow down and rear-ended a 2019 Freightliner, causing his vehicle to veer off the road and hit median cable barriers. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and sustained severe injuries, later succumbing at a local hospital. The driver of the Freightliner was unharmed and wearing a seatbelt. The incident is currently under investigation, and Castillo's family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of seatbelt usage while driving.
