Oregon Man Guilty of Hate Crimes at Synagogue

Adam Edward Braun, 34, from Eugene, Oregon, pleaded guilty to three federal hate crimes after repeatedly defacing the Temple Beth Israel synagogue with antisemitic graffiti and attempting to damage its property. Braun admitted to spray-painting '1377' on the synagogue, a number linked to neo-Nazi symbolism, and later vandalized it with 'White Power' after trying to break in with a hammer. The incidents, which occurred between September 2023 and January 2024, were captured by security cameras, leading to his identification and arrest. Upon searching Braun's home, authorities discovered Nazi memorabilia, further evidencing his white nationalist affiliations. He faces up to a year in prison for each count, additional fines, and has agreed to pay restitution to the synagogue. Braun's sentencing is scheduled for February 2025.
