Man arrested for second-degree assault in Fairdale nonfatal shooting

A man named Alberto Gonzalez was arrested in connection to a nonfatal shooting near Fairdale, Louisville, on October 3. Gonzalez, 28, allegedly got into a verbal argument with the victim, pulled out a handgun, and shot the victim in the legs, causing non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment. Gonzalez admitted to firing the weapon but claimed it was in self-defense and confessed to discarding the gun after fleeing the scene. He faces multiple charges including assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence. Gonzalez is currently held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $25,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned soon.
