Dave King expects Rangers ownership transfer by June

Former Rangers chairman Dave King has confirmed that negotiations for the club's takeover by American businessman Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are more than 90% complete, with the deal expected to finalize in mid-June. King, who is selling his significant shareholding, expressed confidence in the new owners' financial strength and long-term commitment, noting that their lack of emotional attachment could benefit the club's management. The incoming ownership group aims to acquire at least a 51% controlling stake and inject additional capital into Rangers. Key priorities for the new regime will include appointing a new manager and preparing for upcoming Champions League qualifiers, though King believes only preliminary work on these fronts has begun. Discussions about the club's future direction have been ongoing for around six months, and while there were moments of uncertainty, all parties now anticipate a successful conclusion. King also revealed he initially explored alternative investors before choosing the American consortium for their financial credibility and vision.
