Tennessee Lady Vols Set Historic NCAA Records

The Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team achieved a historic victory over North Carolina Central with a 139-59 win, setting a new NCAA record for both men's and women's basketball by making 30 three-pointers in a single game. This performance also broke the previous school and Southeastern Conference records. Samara Spencer led the team with a record-setting nine made three-pointers, contributing to her career-high of 33 points, along with 10 assists. The Lady Vols' 139 points also marked a new program record for the most points scored in a game, surpassing the previous record set in 2002. Under first-year coach Kim Caldwell, Tennessee improved to an 8-0 season start, marking the best debut in program history. North Carolina Central, on the other hand, struggled with turnovers, committing 44 in the game.
