Cale Yarborough Honored at Southern 500

Darlington Raceway will honor the late NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Cale Yarborough during this weekend's 75th annual Cook Out Southern 500. Yarborough, who passed away at 84, left an indelible mark on the track with a record five Southern 500 wins and a career total of 83 NASCAR victories. His 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass, instrumental in securing his third consecutive Cup Series championship, will be showcased and driven by Dale Jarrett during the race festivities. The celebration will include a remembrance by NBC, and the car will be displayed at Darlington's Stock Car Museum. Yarborough's legacy is deeply tied to Darlington, where he famously snuck in as a child and later became a racing legend.
