NYU Langone Names Alec Kimmelman CEO and Dean

NYU Langone Health has appointed Dr. Alec Kimmelman as its new Chief Executive Officer and Dean of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, effective September 1, following the retirement of Dr. Robert Grossman. Kimmelman, who has been with NYU Langone since 2016 and led the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center since 2023, was selected for his leadership and research experience, particularly in pancreatic cancer biology. The announcement was made by Kenneth Langone, chair of the Board of Trustees, who emphasized Kimmelman's potential to continue the institution's legacy of innovation and excellence. Grossman, who has overseen significant growth during his 18-year tenure, will transition to a new role as executive vice president to the board. Kimmelman expressed his commitment to maintaining high standards in patient care and advancing scientific research at NYU Langone, which reported over $14.2 billion in revenue last year. The health system continues to expand, now including seven inpatient locations and more than 320 outpatient facilities.
