Fritz, Medvedev Reach DC Open Last 16

Top seed Taylor Fritz advanced to the DC Open round of 16 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Aleksandar Vukic, marking his first hard-court match since March and first appearance after reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals. Daniil Medvedev, seeded eighth, overcame Reilly Opelka in three sets, capitalizing on Opelka's fading serve in the final set. Medvedev will next play Wu Yibing, who upset 10th seed Alexei Popyrin. In other results, Learner Tien defeated fifth seed Andrey Rublev, and Maria Sakkari eliminated second-seeded Emma Navarro in the women's draw. Third seed Elena Rybakina advanced to the women's quarter-finals. Venus Williams and Hailey Baptiste were narrowly defeated in the women's doubles second round.
