Daisy Edgar-Jones to Star in Austen Adaptation
Daisy Edgar-Jones has been cast as Elinor Dashwood in a new film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, produced by Working Title Films and Focus Features, with production beginning next month in the UK. Georgia Oakley, whose debut Blue Jean received a BAFTA nomination and the People’s Choice award at the Venice Film Festival, will direct. The screenplay is written by Australian author Diana Reid. Producers include Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, India Flint, and Jo Wallett. The film continues Working Title and Focus Features’ tradition of adapting Jane Austen’s works, following previous successes like Pride and Prejudice (2005) and Emma (2020). The role of Marianne Dashwood has not yet been announced, and fans are expressing excitement about Edgar-Jones’s involvement.
