Rupert Friend will star alongside Lily James and Raffey Cassidy in "Photo Booth," an emotional thriller and the feature directorial debut of Australian sibling filmmakers Spencer and Lloyd Harvey. The film centers on Jean (James), a performance artist facing personal and marital crises after struggles with starting a family, and her husband Ben (Friend), a talented portrait artist overshadowed by his wife and famous father, who impregnates a young waitress (Cassidy). The story explores themes of love, ambition, and family through a tense love triangle and complex relationships. Production is set to begin in October, with filming locations in Australia and London. The screenplay, written by the Harvey brothers, won the 2016 Academy Nicholl Fellowship and has garnered considerable attention at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where HanWay Films and UTA Independent Film Group are handling sales.
