Despite Norris leading most of the qualifying session, Piastri's final lap allowed him to claim the top spot, with Charles Leclerc in third and Max Verstappen fourth. While Piastri expressed excitement about starting from pole, he acknowledged the potential for team orders to support Norris's championship bid during the race. Norris, who is 47 points behind Verstappen, remained calm post-qualifying and did not dwell on missing pole, recognizing the importance of scoring points. Piastri stated he is willing to support Norris in the title fight but also aims to win the race himself.
