During a concert, Hilton recounted how he and Lenz developed a close friendship and romantic feelings while bonding over music during the show's second season. However, Hilton sensed something was off and eventually learned that the 'Big House Family' had to approve of any romantic interest in Lenz. When the group assessed Hilton at one of his concerts, they reportedly found him unsuitable, leading Lenz to end their relationship. Hilton humorously noted that being rejected by a cult was a unique experience for him.
