France Seeks Explanation From Vueling Over Removal of Jewish Youths From Spain Flight

French authorities are investigating the removal of around 50 young French passengers, all Jewish, from a Vueling Airlines flight departing Valencia, Spain, bound for Paris. The airline stated the group was removed due to disruptive behavior, including tampering with safety equipment, but parents and some Israeli officials have alleged the incident was motivated by antisemitism after a teenager reportedly sang a song in Hebrew. France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot contacted Vueling's CEO to demand an explanation and requested a thorough internal investigation to determine if discrimination on religious grounds occurred. The French government also made a similar inquiry to the Spanish ambassador to France. The youth group, returning from a summer camp, plans to file a complaint alleging physical and psychological violence and religious discrimination. Vueling denies any religious motive behind the removals and asserts safety concerns were the sole reason for their actions.
