France fullback Melvyn Jaminet has been suspended for 34 weeks and fined €30,000 ($32,589) by the French Rugby Federation (FFR) for posting a racist video while on tour in Argentina. The video included a remark where Jaminet stated, 'the first Arab I come across, I’ll throw him a headbutt.' The FFR's Disciplinary Council ruled that Jaminet had 'undermined the best interests of rugby.' The suspension can be reduced by eight weeks if he participates in actions like alcohol and social media awareness programs and promoting anti-discrimination values in rugby schools. Jaminet has issued an apology, emphasizing that the comments do not reflect his or the French rugby team's values. Additionally, two other French players, Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou, were arrested for alleged sexual assault a day after Jaminet's incident.
