ACE, Egyptian Authorities Shut Largest Illegal Sports Streaming Network
The largest illegal sports streaming platform in the world, Streameast, has been shut down in a coordinated sting operation involving the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) and Egyptian authorities. Streameast, which attracted over 1.6 billion visits in the past year and operated through 80 domains, offered unauthorized streams of major sports leagues including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, European soccer leagues, and pay-per-view boxing and motorsports. The investigation spanned from July 2024 to June 2025, culminating in the seizure of laptops, smartphones, Visa cards containing $123,000, and approximately $200,000 in cryptocurrency, along with the arrest of two men in Egypt charged with copyright infringement. Authorities uncovered that the operators had set up a shell company in the UAE to funnel ad revenue from the piracy sites. ACE emphasized that all former Streameast domains will redirect users to a "Watch Legally" page and vowed to continue efforts to dismantle major piracy operations worldwide. This crackdown marks a significant victory for sports leagues, entertainment companies, and fans seeking legal access to content amid growing fragmentation and high costs of legitimate sports streaming services.
