Five Players Named Semifinalists for Witten Award

Five college football players have been named semifinalists for the eighth annual Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award, recognizing their leadership on and off the field. Auburn's Luke Deal, a two-time team captain known for his community involvement, Missouri's Brady Cook, a three-time team captain with impressive academic credentials, Maryland's Dante Trader, who has organized charitable efforts, Cincinnati's Dontay Corleone, who overcame health challenges while mentoring teammates, and Kansas' Devin Neal, recognized for his leadership in the Jayhawks' resurgence, are among the nominees. The award emphasizes qualities such as courage, integrity, and sportsmanship. Finalists will be announced on December 16, and the winner will receive a $10,000 contribution to a charity of their choice at an award ceremony on February 12, 2025. This recognition is the first of its kind in college football, focusing predominantly on players' leadership skills.
