Two separate incidents in Virginia and Iowa have led to attempted murder charges for two men involved in violent confrontations. In Virginia, Michael C. Chewning, 40, from Lynchburg, was charged after a high-speed chase on Interstate 81, during which he attempted to swerve into police officers and fled on foot before being apprehended by a K-9 unit; Chewning also had active warrants and was charged with felony eluding and drug possession. Meanwhile, in Iowa, Brent Wallenmeyer, 30, of Anamosa, was charged following a road rage incident where he struck multiple vehicles with a black Chevy S-10 and attempted to attack other drivers with a knife; no serious injuries were reported. Both cases involved multiple law enforcement agencies and are under ongoing investigation. Each man is being held in custody without bond pending further legal proceedings.
