Conference of Speakers Urges Nigeria National Assembly to Expedite Constitution Review

The National Citizen Party (NCP) in Bangladesh, led by convener Nahid Islam, has emphasized the need for trials of fascist regime members, fundamental reforms, and a new constitution to rebuild the country following the July uprising that ousted the Awami League regime. The NCP has called for the swift adoption of a July charter and declaration, threatening street protests if the government fails to comply. Meanwhile, in Nigeria, Adebo Ogundoyin, Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures, has urged the National Assembly to expedite the ongoing constitution review process to ensure timely amendments ahead of the next general elections. Ogundoyin highlighted the importance of maintaining momentum, transparency, and inclusive legislative engagement to strengthen Nigeria's constitutional framework. He also praised the National Assembly for its commitment to openness and participatory democracy through initiatives such as the National Assembly Open Week. Both Bangladesh and Nigeria are actively engaging in constitutional reform processes aimed at enhancing governance and democratic stability in their respective countries.
