YouTube is celebrating its 20th anniversary, marking two decades since co-founder Jawed Karim uploaded the platform's first video, 'Me at the Zoo.' Over this period, YouTube has grown into a global media powerhouse, reporting more than 20 trillion videos uploaded and over 20 million new videos added daily as of March 2025. The platform has become the second-most visited website worldwide and a central pillar of Google's business, with analysts estimating its standalone value as high as $550 billion. YouTube's influence extends across media, outpacing competitors like Disney and Netflix in TV viewership, and launching features such as a revamped TV app and expanded multiview capabilities.
