Six Former Surgeons General Warn RFK Jr. Endangers Health

Six former U.S. surgeons general — Jerome Adams, Richard Carmona, Joycelyn Elders, Vivek Murthy, Antonia Novello and David Satcher — published a Washington Post op‑ed warning that HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is “endangering the health of the nation.” They say Kennedy’s long history of vaccine skepticism has led him to de‑emphasize vaccination in favor of unproven vitamin therapies during a recent measles outbreak that produced preventable illnesses and deaths, and to promote disputed links such as acetaminophen use during pregnancy to autism. The group accused him of replacing experts on key vaccine advisory committees, sidelining evidence, censoring scientific findings and pressuring career officials. Their unprecedented public warning echoes similar rebukes from former CDC directors, more than 20 major medical organizations and over 1,000 current and former HHS employees who have called for Kennedy’s resignation. They warned the consequences are concrete — lives lost, disease outbreaks, erosion of public trust, and threats to national health and security.
