Christopher Dunn's Release Blocked by Supreme Court
Christopher Dunn, who was convicted for a 1990 murder in St. Louis based on recanted eyewitness testimonies, was ordered to be released after St. Louis Circuit Judge Jason Sengheiser vacated his conviction, citing 'actual innocence' and lack of evidence. Despite this, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey appealed the ruling, resulting in the Missouri Supreme Court blocking Dunn's release. St. Louis Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore, whose office investigated and supported Dunn's exoneration, continues to fight for his release. This case mirrors that of Sandra Hemme, who also remained incarcerated despite a judge overturning her conviction. The Midwest Innocence Project, representing Dunn, vows to pursue all avenues for his freedom.
