Joseph Beecher, 51, was convicted by a federal jury for kidnapping a housekeeper from Michael Bloomberg's Colorado ranch in February 2022 with the intention of killing Bloomberg. After being dismissed from his job, Beecher stole firearms and drove to Bloomberg's property, where he abducted the housekeeper at gunpoint and forced her to drive him to various locations in an attempt to find and kill another media mogul. The woman was rescued unharmed the next day by SWAT officers in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Beecher faces a mandatory minimum of seven years to life in prison, with sentencing scheduled for November 18. Beecher had no known connection to Bloomberg or his family, who were not at the ranch during the incident.
