WHO Announces Evacuation of 1,000 from Gaza

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced plans to evacuate up to 1,000 women and children from Gaza needing medical care to Europe in the coming months. Hans Kluge, WHO's regional director for Europe, stated that Israel is committed to facilitating these evacuations, which will be coordinated by the WHO alongside the European nations involved. Since the onset of the current conflict in October 2023, the WHO has already managed approximately 600 medical evacuations to seven European countries. Kluge emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue to enable these humanitarian efforts and noted that health should not be politicized. He also highlighted ongoing health crises in conflict areas such as Ukraine. The situation in Gaza remains dire, with significant casualties reported from the ongoing military operations.
