Worker Rescued After Building Collapse in Louisville

A man was rescued after being trapped for nearly nine hours under debris at a demolition site in Louisville, Kentucky. Firefighters responded to the incident at the former Community Correctional Center at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Thursday and worked tirelessly, with a bilingual captain facilitating communication between rescuers and the trapped worker. The man was successfully extracted just before 8:30 p.m. and taken to a hospital via ambulance. The site is being cleared for the future LOUMED Commons park, and the workers involved are contractors rather than city employees. Mayor Craig Greenberg and Fire Department officials provided an update following the successful rescue.
