Hawk Rescued From SUV Grill in Chelmsford

A hawk was rescued after becoming lodged in the grill of a Honda SUV on I-495 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The incident occurred when a motorist, Judy Harmon, unknowingly struck the bird while driving at about 70 miles per hour. Upon discovering the hawk trapped in her vehicle, she called 911, prompting a collaborative effort from state police, animal control, and technicians from Nucar Honda to carefully free the bird. The hawk was successfully extricated with minimal signs of injury, though veterinarians later discovered a fracture in its wing. It has been taken to The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University for evaluation and treatment. Despite some damage to the car, Harmon expressed relief that the hawk survived the ordeal and is receiving care.
