Man charged after Cambridge police officer stabbed
A 26-year-old man, Reis Treby, was charged with assaulting a police officer with a knife during a drug-related patrol in Cambridge. The incident occurred on Eagle Street when officers attempted to stop two men suspected of drug dealing, leading to one officer sustaining a serious injury to his left arm. Following the attack, the officer was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital but has since been discharged and is recovering. Treby faces multiple charges including wounding without intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public place. Detective Chief Inspector Tom Rowe commended the bravery of the officers involved, stating their quick actions helped prevent further risk to the public. Treby is scheduled to appear at Cambridge Magistrates' Court.
