Hurricane, Decorated Secret Service K9, Dies at 16

Hurricane, a Belgian Malinois who served as a Special Operations Canine with the U.S. Secret Service, has passed away at the age of 16. Renowned as the most decorated K9 in U.S. history, Hurricane gained fame for subduing an intruder on the White House lawn in 2014, protecting President Barack Obama and his family. Despite sustaining significant injuries from the incident, Hurricane was honored with numerous awards including the Animals in War and Peace Distinguished Service Medal. After retiring, he became the face of 'Hurricane’s Heroes,' a nonprofit that supports retired working dogs with medical care and has helped over 150 retired military and government working dogs. His legacy continues through this organization, and his passing marks the end of a celebrated career of bravery and dedication to duty.
