Car Crash Causes Large Fire at San Jose Post Office, Suspect in Custody

Early Sunday morning, a vehicle intentionally crashed into a United States Post Office on the 6500 block of Crown Boulevard in San Jose, causing a two-alarm fire. Approximately 50 firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze within about 90 minutes, with no injuries reported. The front office of the building suffered severe damage, and the rear mailroom also sustained some damage, leading to a loss of mail and a possible closure of the post office. The San Jose Police Department took a suspect into custody and is working with fire department arson investigators and federal postal inspectors to determine the lead investigative agency. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities have confirmed it was started by the vehicle crash and is being treated as an intentional act.
