OCEARCH Tracks Great Whites in Florida Waters

Several great white sharks, tagged by the research nonprofit OCEARCH, have been tracked in Florida waters, highlighting their migration patterns. 'Crystal,' a 10-foot shark, surfaced off Sarasota, having previously been tracked near Pensacola, illustrating the species' seasonal journey south for warmer waters. Another shark, 'Keji,' a 578-pound juvenile, was detected near Marco Island, having traveled over 17,000 miles since tagging. Meanwhile, 'Breton,' a 13-foot shark, continues his annual migration, recently pinging off Jacksonville, having traveled over 40,000 miles. These findings underscore the importance of OCEARCH's efforts in tracking and studying these keystone species for ecological insights.
