Good Charlotte, the influential Maryland pop-punk band, has announced their eighth studio album, Motel Du Cap, set for release on August 8 via Atlantic Records, marking their first album in seven years. The album was inspired by a private performance at France’s Hotel du Cap in 2023, which reignited their passion for music and connection without pressure, serving as a thematic core for the record. The lead single, "Rejects," released ahead of the album, channels the band's early sound with modern sensibilities, reflecting themes of mental health and self-acceptance; it is accompanied by a claymation music video. Joel Madden emphasized that "Rejects" was chosen as the lead single because it represents the album well, despite not being the most obvious choice, and noted the ongoing work on mental health reflected in the lyrics. The band plans to debut the single on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and perform at major summer events, with a world tour anticipated in 2026. The Madden brothers have also been active outside the band, engaging in various music ventures and media projects, highlighting their continuous influence in the music scene.
