Spanish Police Arrest 48 in Human Trafficking Operation Exploiting 1,000 Women

Spanish police have dismantled a human trafficking ring that exploited over 1,000 women, primarily from Venezuela and Colombia, who were lured to Spain with false job offers in the beauty and cleaning sectors. Upon arrival, the victims were forced into sex work, kept under constant video surveillance, and allowed only two hours of freedom each day. A major operation led to the arrest of 48 suspects, including three ringleaders, during raids in Alicante and Murcia, and three strip clubs were closed. Authorities seized more than 150,000 euros in cash and blocked bank accounts totaling approximately 938,000 euros. Six suspects have been held in pre-trial detention while the others were released on bail. This operation highlights the ongoing issue of human trafficking in Spain and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
