LA Metro Extends Free Fare Amid Fires

Los Angeles Metro has extended its suspension of bus and rail fares through Sunday to assist residents affected by ongoing wildfires and power outages in the area. Metro Board Chair Janice Hahn made the announcement, stating that the fare-free period aims to facilitate travel for those needing to reach shelters or deliver donations. All rail lines, except for the A Line, are operating normally, and free bus shuttles are replacing A Line service between the Southwest Museum and Fillmore stations due to wind damage. Several bus lines are experiencing detours and cancellations due to fire activity and power line issues. Pasadena Transit is also offering limited free rides while adjusting their services in response to evacuation areas. The changes reflect Metro's commitment to public safety and recovery efforts amid challenging conditions.
