Nick Saban, one of college football's most decorated coaches, has been announced as the first inductee of the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame class. The announcement was made during ESPN's College GameDay pregame show at the Cotton Bowl, where Saban was working as an analyst. Saban, who retired last year after a successful 17-year tenure at Alabama, led his teams to seven national championships, one with LSU and six with Alabama. His overall coaching record is 297-71-1, making him the winningest coach in FBS history in terms of national titles. Saban expressed gratitude, attributing his success to the players, coaches, and support staff who worked with him over the years. The rest of the 2025 Hall of Fame class will be announced on January 15, and the induction ceremony is scheduled for December 9 in Las Vegas.
