Glasgow pharmacist jailed for sexually abusing two patients

Tauqeer Azam, a 41-year-old pharmacist, has been sentenced to two years in prison for sexually abusing two women during medical consultations at pharmacies in Edinburgh and Glasgow. His first victim was assaulted in May 2021 at a Boots Pharmacy, where he took her into a private room without a chaperone and made inappropriate sexual remarks after she sought help for a rash. A second victim was targeted in 2023 at Well Pharmacy, where she also received inappropriate treatment under similar circumstances. Azam’s actions have been described as a shocking betrayal of trust, with authorities emphasizing the courage of the victims who reported the incidents. He has been placed on the sex offenders register for ten years. The case highlights the importance of safeguarding patients' trust in healthcare environments.
