Multiple Water Main Breaks Disrupt Services in El Paso, Cleveland

El Paso Water is addressing ongoing infrastructure issues following two significant water main breaks in the city during the first week of April. The first break occurred on April 1 in Northwest El Paso, and the second followed on April 3 in West El Paso, where an 8-inch main burst, causing pavement damage and impacting local residents' water pressure. El Paso Water officials attribute these breaks to aging infrastructure and are currently engaged in several replacement projects to enhance service reliability. Denise Parra, a public affairs officer, emphasized that a recent 7 percent increase in residential water rates is aimed at funding these necessary upgrades. Meanwhile, other areas in Ohio and Cleveland are also experiencing water main breaks, leading to low pressure and travel disruptions, highlighting the widespread nature of such infrastructure challenges across the country.
