Wells Fargo To End Naming Rights Deal
Wells Fargo has announced that it will not renew its naming rights deal for the arena currently known as Wells Fargo Center, home to the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers, when the contract expires in August 2025. The arena, which opened in 1996 and has undergone several name changes, has seen numerous significant events and sports legends. Wells Fargo, which has held the naming rights since 2010, cited a regular review and adjustment of its sponsorship strategy as the reason for this decision. Comcast Spectacor, the arena's owner, expressed a commitment to finding a new partner to maintain the venue's role in the Philadelphia sports and entertainment scene. The 76ers, who have not commented on the naming change, are also looking to relocate to a new arena by 2031. This decision follows the team's previous distancing from Wells Fargo due to a lack of business partnership since the 2014-15 season.
