Nebraska Regents to Vote on Alcohol Sales Policy

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents is set to consider a policy change on October 4 that would allow alcohol sales at all athletic events, including football and volleyball, starting in the 2025-26 season. Currently, Memorial Stadium is the only Big Ten football venue that does not offer alcohol sales. The initiative follows successful implementations at Pinnacle Bank Arena and Haymarket Park. University President Jeffrey Gold emphasized the careful planning to ensure safety and meet fans' expectations, with a portion of revenues going towards alcohol safety programs. Infrastructure upgrades are necessary for Memorial Stadium and the Bob Devaney Sports Center to accommodate alcohol sales. Athletic Director Troy Dannen noted that this move could significantly boost concession revenues, potentially exceeding $1 million per game.
