South Korea has deployed a bed-bug sniffer dog named Ceco at Incheon International Airport to screen athletes, officials, and fans returning from the Paris Olympics. Ceco, a two-year-old beagle trained by pest control company Cesco, can detect bedbug pheromones with over 95% accuracy and can sweep a hotel room in under two minutes. This initiative, in collaboration with South Korea's ministries of security, transportation, and disease control, aims to prevent a potential influx of bedbugs following last year's bedbug panic in Paris. The South Korean government has increased disinfection protocols for flights from Paris and prepared its airport quarantine services for rapid response. Ceco's deployment will continue through September 8, aligning with the conclusion of the Olympics, where South Korea sent 144 athletes. Additionally, sniffer dogs in South Korea have expanded roles, including detecting submerged human remains, as demonstrated by another dog, Alpha, in a recent rescue drill.
