Loaded Handgun Found at Harrisburg Airport

A Lancaster man was cited for attempting to bring a loaded 9mm handgun with 13 bullets in his carry-on bag through Harrisburg International Airport's security checkpoint. TSA officers detected the firearm using an X-ray machine, halting the screening process until police could remove it. The man was cited with a weapons charge but allowed to return the gun to his vehicle. This incident marks the fourth gun found at the airport this year. TSA officials emphasized the importance of transporting firearms correctly by unloading them, placing them in hard-sided locked cases, and declaring them at the airline check-in counter. Violations can lead to civil penalties up to $15,000, and concealed carry permits do not allow firearms to be carried onto an airplane.
