Starting in 2025, Meghalaya's Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma announced that the state will implement two annual Class 10 examinations through the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE). This change, approved by the state cabinet, allows students who fail their first attempt to retake the exam within one to two months, in May. The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) and aims to minimize the time lost between exam attempts. Additionally, the cabinet decided to eliminate the optional 'best of five' system from the 2026-2027 academic year, requiring students to pass all six subjects. Other cabinet approvals included new service rules for public school and water resources engineering services, as well as an amendment bill for the Farmers Empowerment Commission.
